Happy Birthday, Bruce Lee!

Luckily for me, I have this guy sitting on a wall right above my head. So, this is more like a protector than a poster. Words cannot express the impact this one guy has had on the world for the past 40 something years now. His presence on screen in any action movie is still unmatched. No one can ever duplicated the charm, the character, the bone chilling presence he has in a scene when it's time to get down with the get down. Ever since I was about 8 years old, I always envisioned what it would be like to meet this guy. Even if it was a simple dream and I got to sit there and talk to him, that would be great. I'm pretty sure a simple few words would inspire me to be even greater. Bruce Lee was that kind of person to really help people be the best they can be. Not by changing them, but helping them to become a better "they" or so. You definitely gotta respect that. Imho, he's not only the father of creating a unique system of combat that uses form as no form, but the current thing with MMA and UFC. I definitely think if he's not the father, he's definitely the inspiration behind that. Shoutout to Shannon Lee, Bruce's daughter, for keeping his legacy alive and well! Music Monday - Enter the Dragon Theme

I haven't done a Music Monday in a good while to be absolutely honest on this site, but this is special. This is the 39th year anniversary, and this song is an absolute classic. The 70s had the best theme songs, period. This absolutely takes the cake. Enter the Dragon is such a cult classic that got everyone really into the whole Martial Arts films thing. I love this track. It's so funky, it's so intuitive of the time, period. Even the DDR remix is pretty dayum cool! Check out the track enjoy!

Enter the Fat Dragon opening title (RARE)

Hahah, this is actually pretty funny. There were a lot of Bruce Lee knockoffs/parodies that happened after his death to capitalize on the craze. I remember this old tape my father got me, and it was "supposed" to be Bruce Lee. It said Bruce Li, Bruce Lei, Bruce Le, etc. So cheap and so whack. I remember even Jackie Chan saying in an interview that directors wanted him to be the next Bruce Lee. Of course, there can only be one. Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee have two totally different styles which work. Anyway, one of my favorite actors has to be Sammo Hung. Here's the opening to "Enter the Fat Dragon". Pretty hilarious...

Enter the Dragon was one the biggest movies to come out that kicked off the whole Martial Arts craze in the United States. Bruce Lee was definitely at the helm of this. At a time where a lot of social, political, and economical changes occurred, this was definitely needed. The United States was still pretty separated even the 70's. Many of Bruce Lee's enemies were non supporters of his movement. They were not only in dispute to his self made artform "Jeet Kune Do" but also his ideology of sharing it with anyone willing. The Si-Fu's wanted to keep it with the Chinese lineage. Bruce Lee was completely against that. His idea was sharing, creating unity. I respect him humbly for that. He caught a lot of flack for that. What Bruce Lee did was revolutionize martial arts on film. No fairy flying, no wires, none of that. Raw Martial Arts at it's finest. The beauty and simplicity of just the plain movement made it greater due to the fact that it was all truth.  Make sure you also support: the Bruce Lee blog by Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee's daughter).
